Oil on canvas, 86 x 62 x 4 cm
It was a summer night in August 1996. I met a local skinhead gang at a folk museum were there was a late summer party in a residential area on the outskirts of Stockholm. The gang, which consisted of both girls and boys, were there to drink beer and hang out. And there he stood this nineteen-year old with his beer and I thought that his pose looked like a classic portrait.
To paint a classic portrait of a skinhead turned out to be more provocative than the skinheads themselves.
